ABOUT collisions

Collisions: A Concept Album allows a deeper look into the fleeting moments of our daily lives, from the stranger on the train to the sizzling sound of sausages to the celestial beings above us. Told through many different voices, Collisions explores the boundaries of near-misses and perfect explosions through a small vocal and musical ensemble. With a captivating score by Collard & Rosenblatt in their first concept album, Collisions creates an atmosphere that allows both the listener and the performer to discover the ways in which everyone collides.

ABOUT THE WRITERS

Elspeth Collard AND Sam Rosenblatt are a queer female writing team who met at the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at NYU Tisch, where they received their MFAs. Collard holds a BA in Music from University of Cambridge and Rosenblat holds a BS in Educational Theatre from NYU Steinhardt. They’ve written over a hundred songs together, as well as three musicals (Like the Wind (The Brick, New Musicals Lab), A Princess Story (NMTC Semifinalist 2021), and Twenty-Six Percent (EAT Festival)). They also released an album in March of 2021 (Little Love Notes) and plan to release a second album (Collisions) in fall of 2022. Collard & Rosenblatt had their work performed at numerous cabaret venues prior, including Feinstein’s/54 Below (Quarter Note Crisis) and Green Room 42. As a team, they prioritize writing stories with women at the helm, hoping to illuminate queer experiences and end the stigma surrounding mental health. Both are members of the Dramatist Guild and Maestra.
